Visit the Sutherland Falls Quarry
Only a quarter mile stroll from our Museum parking lot, the viewing area allows the visitor to see the original Proctor quarry. Set in the center of town, you will find yourself in a great place for a picnic, or simply a walk to enjoy nature and view a quarry scene complete with a "quarry stick".
Imagine as you view the lovely blue-green water, that the bottom is over 150' below!
This new addition to the Vermont Marble Museum began in April 2003 with the creation of a scenic walkway to the quarry and installation of safety measures for visitors.
This year we are continuing to extend the project to include informative signage, a picnic area, and with the cooperation of the town of Proctor, a nature trail is in the plans. With completion of the project, we hope to provide the community with a location to enjoy nature in a beautiful and peaceful setting.
